Dr. Parikh is a specialist in gastrointestinal malignancies at the MGH Cancer Center. She has been actively involved in clinical work, providing treatment for patients afflicted with gastrointestinal malignancies as well as providing care on the general oncology inpatient and oncology services. Within GI oncology, she has developed several niches most notably in the field of liquid biopsies as well as colorectal cancer.

Previously, she worked as a medical director at Genentech/Roche, where she led the gastric cancer and hepatocellular cancer strategy and co-led the colorectal cancer strategy. She was involved with both targeted therapy and cancer immunotherapy and was part of development teams for pertuzumab, TDM1, and atezolizumab in gastrointestinal cancers.  In 2016, in conjunction with lab collaborators, she developed the clinical platform for the collection of plasma from patients with GI cancers in order to characterize what is known as circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA).

She is an internationally recognized expert in ctDNA and routinely asked to speak on the use of liquid biopsies in colorectal cancer and have been asked to write several invited reviews, chapters and commentaries while also leading advisory boards with biopharma collaborators. She also serves on NCI Task Force for Liquid Biopsies in emerging areas such as pancreatic cancer, a tumor type in which she has several ongoing ctDNA initiatives.
